Three trainees welcomed at Ellis Jones Solicitors

Ellis Jones is pleased to announce the appointment of three trainee solicitors.

Clair Phillips began her legal career as a placement student at Ellis Jones, progressing to become a paralegal in the Commercial Property department upon completion of her law degree and Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Clair is now in the firm’s Family department after successfully completing her first placement as a trainee in Commercial Property. She enjoys keeping fit and plays netball competitively in her spare time.

Lauren Harley studied her law degree at University of Surrey and carried on to study the LPC at the University of Law, Guildford.

Lauren’s first placement is in the Residential Property department at Ellis Jones’ Canford Cliffs office. Outside of work Lauren is a keen ballroom and Latin American dancer.

Simon Beetham has started his training programme supporting the firm’s specialist Banking and Finance Litigation department based at the Bournemouth office.

He enjoys an active lifestyle and has represented both regional squads and university teams in cricket, rugby and hockey. Simon currently plays cricket for Lymington Cricket Club in the New Forest.

Trainee solicitors at Ellis Jones have a two-year training contract. The comprehensive training programme provides each candidate with placements lasting six months in four different areas of the business.

Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, who joined the firm as a trainee in 1986, said: “Clair, Lauren and Simon are very welcome additions to the highly experienced and skilled team at Ellis Jones.

“We already have three trainee solicitors who have gone into their second year of training contracts with the firm. It is an excellent way of identifying, and nurturing, future talent.

“You really can go all the way with Ellis Jones. Four of the firm’s 11 partners, including me, are former trainees. Proof, if proof were needed, of the success of our approach to training.”

Previous trainees also include Theresa Hancock who has now qualified as a solicitor in Ellis Jones’ Private Client department at the Ringwood office, specialising in Trusts and acting as the firm’s Trust Administrator.
