Success at London Bike Show 2016

From 11th-14th February 2016, Ellis Jones took an exhibition stand at The London Bike Show held at ExCel, London. Over 50,000 visitors came through the doors across 4 days and we were blown away with the success of the show.

We ran a competition to win a Garmin 810 GPS-enabled bike computer. The competition was to guess how many calories David McWilliam, Head of the Personal Injury department, burned on a charity bike ride in September 2015 from Rome in Italy to home in Bournemouth covering a distance of 1,341 miles. The map of the route generated a great deal of interest with entrants asking questions about the route, terrain, punctures suffered and the organisation of the ride.

We had over 600 entries to the competition and the winner will be announced shortly together with the runners-up prizes. We thanked entrants for their time with a free Jimmy’s Iced Coffee that we were able to give away due to Jimmy’s generosity.

David even had the excitement of meeting one of his cycling heroes, Chris Boardman, who visited the show as a speaker and to unveil his brand of bikes exhibiting directly opposite the Ellis Jones stand. Chris Boardman spoke to David and was interested to find out if cyclists wearing head cams and car drivers using dash cams will come into play in the near future. David explained that it will certainly happen at some stage, but he has not yet had a client who has managed to have footage on his head cam or dash cam of an accident.
