Partner, Solicitor & Head of Business Services, Neil Cook attended the investor workshop during the afternoon on Monday 11th May at The Bournemouth Carlton Hotel and then Managing Partner, Nigel Smith joined for the evening pitch event.

Dorset Business Angels

Dorset Business Angels provide quality, private equity investment opportunities to local high net worth and sophisticated investors. Their aim is to help early stage businesses find equity capital, particularly in southern England. They achieve this by bringing investors and entrepreneurs together at various events to accelerate the growth of early stage businesses. We have historically sponsored Dorset Business Angels to support local businesses in the community and provide legal information that is highly relevant for investors attending their pitch events.

Legal support for businesses

Neil Cook spoke to those who attended the event about shareholder issues, the checklist for becoming an investor and issues relating to share ownerships. During the evening pitch event, Nigel Smith spoke about how our Business Services department at Ellis Jones can provide legal guidance for local businesses and investors, whilst having interesting conversations around the room. Nigel Smith also attended events hosted in January and April earlier this year as part of our sponsorship with Dorset Business Angels.
