Conor Maher

Conor is an experienced and well-regarded commercial litigation solicitor, who has been a strong advocate for mediation and other forms of ADR/NCDR throughout his career. Conor is a qualified civil and commercial Mediator, trained accredited by the Society of Mediators.

In his legal practice, Conor represents a range of commercial and individual clients in civil and commercial disputes across a range of sectors and matters, from shareholder disputes and business sale issues, through to property and construction claims.

Outside of his legal practice, Conor is an Associate Lecturer in Dispute Resolution at Bournemouth University, and has delivered training on a range of topics including negotiation skills, and the tactical use of ADR/NCDR, to other legal professionals.

As the Treasurer and Civil Litigation lead for the Bournemouth and District Law Society, Conor is extraordinarily well-regarded within the local legal community and is also exceptionally well-reviewed with both the Chambers & Partners Guide and the Legal500 Guide – in which he has been individually ranked in both as an ‘Associate to Watch’ and ‘Leading Associate’ respectively.

Conor’s approach to mediation is conciliatory and collaborative, working with the parties (and their respective legal advisors) to deploy reality testing, scenario modelling, and equitable bargaining, to help the parties narrow the issues and, if there’s sufficient appetite for compromise, to help bring the parties towards settlement.

In facilitating an effective mediation, Conor is experienced and capable of dealing with both in-person, virtual, and hybrid mediations, and is happy to flexible approaches to mediation including both facilitative and evaluative mediation processes.

Qualified Civil and Commercial Mediator , having trained with the Society of Mediators through their international mediation programme in Corfu, Greece.
