My Approach
I provide clear, strategic advice that addresses not only the legal complexities of your case but also the personal and emotional challenges that arise during family breakdown. I take a proactive, pragmatic and measured approach, always seeking to reduce conflict and unnecessary costs wherever possible.
I work constructively with clients to explore negotiated solutions when appropriate. However, where agreement cannot be reached, I confidently draw on my litigation experience to advance your case robustly and secure the best possible outcome.
I have particular expertise in complex children matters involving allegations of domestic abuse and complex financial matters. I regularly act both for those seeking protection and for those defending allegations, and I am experienced in managing fact-finding hearings and cases involving coercive and controlling behaviour. I am highly skilled in navigating the evidential and procedural challenges that arise in these matters
Area of Expertise
- Complex private children matters including domestic abuse
- Emergency applications to protect children such as preventing them from being taken abroad
- Narcissistic and other personality disorders in the content of family breakdown
- All aspects of divorce and civil partnership dissolution
- Financial disputes arising from relationship breakdown
- Cohabitation agreements
- TOLATA claims
- Relocation of children (internal)
- Emergency applications relating to domestic abuse, such as obtaining Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders
Recent Work
- Secured significant findings of domestic abuse (both physical and non-physical) against a father in Children Act proceedings, which resulted in the father having no contact with the children. See reported case A & Ors (Finding of Fact), Re - Find Case Law - The National Archives.
- Secured significant findings of domestic abuse against a mother in Children Act proceedings, which resulted in the mother having no contact with the child. This involved four sets of Children Act proceedings. See reported cases https://caselaw.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ewfc/b/2025/490 and https://caselaw.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ewfc/b/2025/491.
- Successfully defended a father at a fact-find hearing who was facing allegations of sexual abuse towards the children. Secured findings that the mother had maliciously fabricated these allegations against the father and secured a costs order against the mother.
- Experienced in dealing with child arrangements where one parent is drinking in excess or abusing drugs. Successful in pursuing expert alcohol and drug testing and putting in place protective measures to ensure contact can take place in a safe environment. Regularly in contact with local children contact centres and familiar with the protocol for arranging supervised/supported contact, where necessary.
- Successfully defended Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders.
- Successfully achieving a fair and reasonable settlement to ensure that my client could re-house herself and her children in a case where the parties had very limited assets and resources. Engaging in swift and sensible negotiations to keep costs down and to avoid Court proceedings.
- Successfully represented a client within complex financial remedy proceedings, including overseas assets and a jointly owned business. I achieved a successful outcome for the wife.
- Represented a wife in financial remedy proceedings where her spouse was untruthful about her relationship status. We therefore instructed a private investigator, and it was proven that the wife’s spouse had been untruthful, resulting in a more favourable settlement for my client.
- Representing a client whose spouse failed to disclose significant assets in divorce and financial proceedings.
- Represented a husband whereby a transfer of residence (the children were ordered to live with him) was made halfway through the financial remedy proceedings. This had a significant consequence on the overall financial settlement, which we successfully achieved in my client’s favour.
- Negotiating financial settlements for unmarried clients.
- Representing grandparents in respect of contact arrangements for their grandchildren.
