Swanage Carnival Queen performs first official duty

Swanage Carnival Queen Drew Hamilton has performed the first official duty of her ‘royal’ year.

The 18-year-old began a busy few months by visiting the offices of her sponsor, Ellis Jones Solicitors, in Swanage High Street.

Drew was welcomed by Partner Craig Wells and other members of the Ellis Jones’ team.

“I am just so happy to be the Carnival Queen and really looking forward to being in the procession,” said Drew who was a princess in 2009 and 2011.

This year’s Swanage Regatta & Carnival is from Saturday July 25 to Saturday August 1.

Attractions include three firework displays, art competitions, a talent show, treasure hunts, dog show, parachute jumps, water and land sports and the Aerostars aerobatic display team.

Craig Wells said Ellis Jones was “delighted and proud” to sponsor the Carnival Queen.

“We’ve supported the carnival for many years. It’s one of the highlights in the annual calendar and always hugely popular with locals and visitors alike,” said Craig.

He added: “As a law firm rooted in Swanage, it’s a real pleasure to support a fantastic community event which generates such a ‘feel good’ factor.”
