Starring role for charity at Primera Cycle & Tri Expo 2015
A charity which supports sporting projects across the south and Third World will be playing a starring role at a bike exhibition this weekend.
The Steve Bernard Foundation was set up in memory of former Bournemouth School pupil and talented footballer Steve Bernard. The 18-year-old and two friends died in a car accident in Chichester in November 2005. Last month Steve’s father, Tony, was among 20 cyclists and four support crew taking part in the ‘Rome to Home’ ride. The team completed the gruelling 1,341 mile cycling challenge in 14 days and climbed more than 58,000 feet, the equivalent of 112 Blackpool Towers or 13 times up Ben Nevis. The ride raised over £25,000, helping the charity to smash through the £250,000 barrier since the foundation was launched in 2006.
This Saturday, November 21, Tony Bernard will be joining Ellis Jones Solicitors on its stand at Primera’s Cycle & Tri Expo at the Bournemouth International Centre.
Visitors to the firm’s stand can take part in a competition to guess how many calories he burned on the challenge.
David said: “I’ve known Tony for several years and the work of the Steve Bernard Foundation is just fantastic. It was worth all the pain just to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
