Team Fundraising at Sibbett Gregory Touch Rugby Event
On Friday 18th July a group of our staff formed a team at the Sibbett Gregory Charity Touch Rugby Competition to raise money for charity.
The competition
The Sibbett Gregory Charity Touch Rugby Competition was held on Branksome Chine Beach where there was a bar and food stalls on site. Money raised from the touch rugby and the food and drinks sold went to the My Names Doddie Foundation, working to support those with Motor Neurone Disease.
Andrea Jakeman, Victoria Simpkin, Wayne Spolander, Jenny Sanderson, Bradley Moon, Jasmine White, Sarah Bourgoin, Evie Allum and Tom Eyles from our Firm formed a team. They played against lots of other local businesses in a round of 4 touch rugby games, and it was a great day for all who attended, including sea dips to cool off as it was very warm!
How did our team perform?
Prior to each game the captains of teams had to play a game of rock, paper, scissors. Whoever won got to choose which side they started from with an advantage as the pitch was on a slope. The Team Captain was Tom Eyles and Wayne Spolander coached and guided those who had never played rugby before on the rules, relevant plays etc. Both ensured everyone worked together as a team, leading to the team scoring 3 tries!
Fundraising and building relationships
The day was a great opportunity for our staff to meet and get to know colleagues from other offices, and strengthen existing working relationships, aligning with our Put People First ethos. Over £3,500 was raised for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation from the competition, a huge well done to those who took part, and we look forward to next year’s event to be able to support our local community.
