Increase in potholes causing cycling accidents
Over recent weeks, I have seen a massive increase in the number of cyclists that have been knocked off their bikes as a result of
potholes. These are causing serious injuries from fractured collar bones to brain injuries.
The recent poor weather caused by the ‘Beast from the East’ has added to the problem as Councils struggle to keep up with the repairs across Britain’s road network. The ‘Beast from the East’ has caused further deterioration in the roads.
A report carried out on behalf of the Department for Transport showed that 10% of the road network maintained by local authorities in GB is in poor condition. This leaves cyclists particularly vulnerable.
If you are a cyclist and are unfortunate to have such an accident, please try and take photographs of the pothole with measurements as soon as possible before you report the accident to the local authority. If there are any witnesses to your accident, get their names and contact details. Speak to me before you report the accident to them. As a specialist cycling
accident solicitor, I will advise you at no cost as to the best way forward. I have huge experience in dealing with these types of claims and will advise you on a No Win, No fee basis.
I will be able to help you recover from your injuries through an extensive network of rehabilitation providers at no cost to you. I will also be able to claim for any damage/repairs to your bike and if it needs replacing seek interim payments to cover the cost. I can also claim for any damaged clothing and your cycle helmet.
