Ellis Jones Hits Top 200 in The Times Best Law Firms 2020

We are thrilled to announce that Ellis Jones Solicitors is one of only 200 firms out of 10,000 nationwide to be named in The Times ‘Best Law Firms 2020’ guide and we are extremely proud that we are the only law firm in Dorset to be listed.

The “Best Law Firms 2020” lists are based on recommendations in 26 categories made by more than 3,200 solicitors and barristers as well as lawyers in legal departments across England and Wales. The sample was collected via research conducted by Statista on company websites, in publications and on job networks such as LinkedIn.

Within our listing Lauren Day, Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution, was recognised for successfully defending a judicial review application about a significant residential development in Bournemouth Overcliff as well as acting for a property developer in a complex contractual dispute worth more than 12 million pounds. Kate Brooks, Partner and Head of Employment Services, was also mentioned for recently representing a charity defending a constructive dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination claim in the Employment Tribunal.

The Family Department was commended within the listing with Deborah Leask, Partner and Joint Head of Family Law, being acknowledged for representing a client whose husband failed to disclose very valuable share options at the time of their separation. Sean McNally, Partner and Joint Head of Family Law, was also mentioned for achieving a very unusual outcome for one client by using a pension to preserve property.

Nigel Smith, our Managing Partner said “Receiving independent endorsement in such a prestigious publication means a great deal to all at Ellis Jones. The guide is compiled by an independent international market research firm and is based on the recommendation of lawyers within the industry so it is a real honour to be rated so highly by our peers for our services. It is a terrific acknowledgment of all of our hard work and we’ll continue to do our very best for our clients across the region.
