Supporting the Bourne Free Pride Festival
Grace Haggerty from our Wills, Trusts & Probate department represented Ellis Jones at the Bourne Free Pride Festival this month.
A welcoming & inclusive event
I recently attended the Bourne Free Pride Festival which is an amazing event that celebrates and shows support for the LGBT+ community. It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of such a colourful, welcoming and inclusive local event. The festival is a great way to bring people together to celebrate the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion, with the Pride Parade and main event on Saturday and then the family event on Sunday. This included live entertainment on a main stage with a whole variety of performances, as well as community stalls, refreshment stands, and activities suitable for all ages. All of the fun things on offer created a positive atmosphere, but most importantly an inclusive event for all to attend, not just members of the LGBT+ community, but anyone who wants to show their support.
A sense of community
What I enjoyed the most was the sense of community throughout the day. There was a real feeling of celebration and togetherness at the event which was great to experience and it felt like something really meaningful. The event felt friendly, heartening, and full of energy, and it was lovely to see so many people proudly celebrating who they are in a safe and supportive environment.
Promoting equality
Reflecting on the Bourne Free event, it was a great celebration for the local community because in my opinion it is about more than just one weekend of events. I felt it helped raise visibility for the LGBT+ community as a whole and most importantly promoted acceptance and gave people a chance to come together in support of equality. Events like this I think are vital because they create a safe space for people to feel included, represented and valued. In turn, this creates a knock-on effect, ensuring that future generations, not just in Bournemouth, but across the country, have a safe space to thrive and be themselves in, without having to endure hate or intolerance from others.
Our commitment to supporting the LGBT+ community
I am proud that our firm is able to support events, such as Bourne Free Pride Festival and show our commitment to the LGBT+ community. Supporting Pride is an important way of demonstrating that inclusion matters, both within the workplace and in the wider community that we are a part of and serve.
