My presidency at the Bournemouth & District Junior Lawyers Division
This article celebrates Daisy Kershaw’s appointment as BDJLD President and her plans to bring junior lawyers together and help them thrive.
A new chapter in my BDJLD journey
I’m delighted to share that I have been elected President of the Bournemouth & District Junior Lawyers Division (BDJLD) for 2025/26. After a fantastic year serving as Social Events Officer, I’m honoured to step into this leadership role and look forward to working alongside a passionate and dedicated team to make a positive impact across our legal community.
About the BDJLD
For those unfamiliar with the BDJLD, we are a committee of junior legal professionals dedicated to supporting and representing our peers. Our aims are to promote and facilitate the educational and professional development of members, provide a forum for the exchange of ideas within the Dorset legal community, and represent the interests of junior lawyers in the region.
What we do
To achieve these goals, we organise a varied calendar of educational, sporting, and social events throughout the year. We also proudly support a Charity of the Year, hosting flagship fundraising events such as our annual Summer Ball and Christmas Charity Quiz. Over the years, we have strengthened our relationships with Bournemouth University and the Bournemouth & District Law Society, helping us grow and connect with an even wider network.
My vision for the year ahead
My ambition for the year ahead is to build an inclusive, welcoming, and dynamic community for junior lawyers and aspiring legal professionals. Whether they are in their first year of practice or just beginning to explore a career in law, I want them to feel connected, supported, and empowered to network, learn, and thrive.
Looking forward
I’m proud to represent the next generation of lawyers and excited for the opportunities ahead to support our members, strengthen our community, and celebrate the progress of junior legal professionals across the region.
