Ellis Jones employees volunteer at Prudential’s event raising money for Cancer Research

Katie Simmonds and I volunteered for Cancer Research UK yesterday at Prudential’s RideLondon-Surrey 100 cycling challenge. Departing at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 6am, the cyclists travelled through the capital out into Surrey’s beautiful countryside. This testing route was made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics.

The event was a huge success with some 24,000 amateur cyclists taking part in the 100 miles ride raising a total of £320,000 for Cancer Research. We supported the cyclists throughout the day and it was amazing to see the crowds offering their encouragement to the cyclists even in the rain, which makes fundraising and volunteering for this charity even more worth while.

I have a personal interest in helping to raise money for Cancer Research UK, as recently a close family relative sadly passed away after suffering from Prostate Cancer. In June Katie Simmonds was one of the 11 ladies from Ellis Jones that took part in Bournemouth’s Race for Life, raising a total of £637.00 for Cancer Research UK.
