Supporting the Philippines after Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino

Earlier this week, we received an email from Felix Apalisok (Investment Manager at Charles Stanley and South Coast Branch Committee President for the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments) that immediately struck a chord. Felix wasn’t reaching out for business or a professional favour; he was reaching out for support.

Following the devastation in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino, Felix has taken it upon himself to raise vital funds for the communities that shaped his early life. These typhoons have not only destroyed infrastructure but have torn through families, livelihoods, and the sense of security so many rely on.

For Felix, this tragedy is deeply personal. For us, it is a moment to step forward and honour the core values we stand for as a firm: providing mutual trust and support and building strong relationships with those around us, near or far.

Felix is hosting a fundraising event to support the Philippine Red Cross.

Fundraiser event details

  • Date: 1 December 2025
  • Time: 19:00 hrs
  • Location: Cosy Club Bournemouth, BH1 1LG

Why this matters

In the wake of Typhoon Uwan alone, over 1.3 million people were forced to flee their homes, with nearly 500,000 displaced. Combined with the destruction from Typhoon Tino, whole communities now face the unimaginable task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

The fundraiser aims to support the Philippine Red Cross, whose teams are on the ground providing emergency aid, shelter, and care. Their work is vital, but they need resources to continue delivering it.

Felix has set an ambitious but achievable goal of £1,500, and every pound raised will go directly toward relief operations. What resonates deeply with us as a firm is not only the urgency of the situation but the act of someone stepping up for their community. This embodies the spirit of trust, support, and connection, values we prioritise in everything we do.

How far support can go?

Even small contributions make a powerful difference:

  • £10 = Hot meals for 5 people.
  • £20 = Hygiene kits for 3 people.
  • £30 = Full support for one family including: meals, hygiene essentials, blankets, and care.

If Felix’s £1,500 goal is reached, this could provide:

  • 700 hot meals;
  • 200 hygiene kits; and
  • Full support for 48 families.

These numbers represent human stories, families regaining stability, children finding comfort, and communities being given the means to rise again.
