Record Numbers for Ellis Jones on International Women’s Day
To mark International Women’s Day we are proud to announce that four-fifths of our staff are female – a record for the firm.
With a figure of 79% – 132 out of 168 employees – shows our absolute commitment to gender equality.
11 out of 12 Associate Solicitors (91%), a third of our 17 Partners (29%), and five out of seven people in our Management team (71%) are also female.
International Women’s Day was on Sunday March 8 with the theme of #EachforEqual.
Kate Brooks, Partner and Head of our Employment/HR Services, said: “Gender equality is very much a business issue.
“Diverse workforces are absolutely essential for businesses, economies and communities to prosper.
“We’re very proud to reveal our latest figures for International Women’s Day, which show a record number of women at the firm and demonstrate our absolute commitment to gender equality.”
Lauren Day, Partner and head of Dispute Resolution, said: “Although the law can be perceived as a traditionally male dominated profession, Ellis Jones is very different to this stereotypical image.
“We believe in equal opportunities and promote people on merit. It is incredibly encouraging to see how successfully this is working at the firm.”
Ellis Jones is also sponsoring Soroptimist International (SI) Bournemouth’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) Challenge for Year 8 and 9 girls.
The initiative’s ultimate aim is encourage more girls to choose STEAM subjects at university.
