Putting people first: supporting a client’s wish
At Ellis Jones, our Court of Protection team believes that people come first. We deal with the legal and financial responsibilities that come with acting for our clients, but at the heart of our role is something much greater which is ensuring that our clients continue to live with dignity, joy and individuality. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

A lifelong passion
For one gentleman in our care, that special moment will come April next year, when he attends a Suzi Quatro concert in Bournemouth.
Now nearing his 70th birthday, he sadly had to move into a care home after it became clear he was no longer safe living on his own. While he is now supported in a safe and caring environment, his dementia means that some parts of his life have faded. And yet, one passion has never wavered – his love for Suzi Quatro.
Treasured memories
When his home was cleared, the depth of that passion was unmistakable. Posters, photos, programmes and concert tickets were all carefully stored away, each one a memory of a special moment. These treasured items now sit proudly in his care home, still bringing him joy every day.
Making it happen
Recognising how important this is to him, one of our Personal Assistants, Jane Wardle, acting in her professional role, arranged tickets for him to see Suzi Quatro live in Bournemouth next April. To make sure the evening is as special, and as comfortable as possible, he will be accompanied by a trusted carer who already visits him regularly and provides warmth and continuity in his day-to-day life.
Putting people first
For us, making this happen is a reminder of why we do what we do. It is about people, not paperwork. It is about safeguarding what makes life meaningful, as much as it is about safeguarding assets.
