My Training Contract application experience with Ellis Jones
Training Contract applications and interviews can certainly be overwhelming. Before applying to Ellis Jones, I felt slightly disheartened by the procedures involved in obtaining a Training Contract, with the gruelling and competitive application processes having made me feel like a small fish in a very large and crowded pond.
I was very grateful and impressed by the personable application experience I had with Ellis Jones, from the first interaction, an email inviting me to a first stage interview, and throughout the process.
The Interview Process
My interviewing experience with Ellis Jones was one of the best I’ve had (and not just because I got the job!). Immediately I felt at ease, and I was taken aback by how approachable and inspiring the Partners interviewing me were. After my first interview, I distinctly remember feeling even more eager and enthusiastic to be a part of the Ellis Jones team, as I was so impressed by the genuine nature of the firm.
For the second interview, I was tasked with preparing a presentation on how law firms should adapt Training Contracts to incorporate the SQE qualification. I was intrigued by this topic and when delivering my presentation, I remember feeling how everyone in the room seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. Even though I was applying for a trainee role, I still felt respected. Going into my Training Contract, my impression has not changed; I truly feel like a valued and respected member of the team. This is testament to Ellis Jones as they have succeeded in cutting down the hierarchical boundaries that divide so many law firms, with every member of staff being truly appreciated and supported.
My First Training Seat
Ellis Jones initially caught my attention through their diverse range of services offered. I had been hoping to obtain a varied and interesting experience from my Training Contract and I was excited that Ellis Jones offered this. I am currently sitting in the Banking and Finance Litigation department and my role is largely centred within the team’s gambling disputes specialist area, where I regularly assist in betting and gaming disputes. I have already been exposed to a wide range of matters, gaining valuable experience and developing skills within a very short period of time. I have been given lots of support, with colleagues more than willing to help and generous with their time.
I feel very grateful and excited to be part of the team at Ellis Jones. I am truly looking forward to the next two years of my Training Contract and I would encourage anyone who is looking for an exciting Training Contract within a supportive team in a progressive firm to not hesitate in applying to Ellis Jones.
