Ellis Jones Day
Ellis Jones Day is once a month. We celebrate our employees, culture and values. We also provide a variety of fresh breakfast options for our staff from local businesses on Ellis Jones Day, and free fruit once a week.
We encourage staff to:
- Talk over the phone or face-to-face as opposed to emailing one another, and dress down for the day;
- We also raise money for a chosen charity and awareness about topical issues e.g. mental health in the workplace.
- The Ellis Jones Star is announced on this day and cross selling talks are organised to give staff the opportunity to learn more about other departments across the firm.
- We also send out our monthly newsletter which includes topical updates, staff news, information on exiting new perk partnerships and much more.
Ellis Jones Star of the Month
The Ellis Jones Star gives recognition to one person a month that has truly gone above and beyond, and demonstrated our core values. We encourage staff to nominate a colleague to be rewarded. The Ellis Jones Star winner is announced every Ellis Jones Day and receives either a £50 Amazon voucher or one extra day’s holiday.
Ellis Jones Wish
This is a fantastic opportunity we provide our staff that could win them up to £250 towards an unforgettable experience of their choice.
Every quarter staff have the chance to submit their wish in a raffle, which could include a spa break, a trip to the West End or driving a sports car. The lucky winner will feature in our Movers & Shakers internal newsletter, and can write a blog post for our website explaining their experience.
We have a social committee who organise various social events throughout the year ranging from family fun days to a spectacular summer ball. The aim for all of our socials is to get staff to connect and build relationships outside of the work environment.

We work hard to build partnerships with local businesses who in turn offer our staff fantastic discounts. We reward our staff with some excellent discounts through our Perk Partnership scheme.Some of our Perk Partnerships include Longleat, Marwell Zoo, Toni & Guy, Baffi, and the Project Climbing Centre.

In order to engage our staff, we recognise that we need to understand what motivates them. Firm wide we use a tool called ‘Motivational Maps’ to assess what motivates our staff in regards to relationships, achievement and growth. We use motivational maps in individual performance reviews, department team building and firm wide projects. Firm wide this creates a positive environment for staff which is a key factor in our core values.
It is extremely important to us that we are giving back to our local community, and one of the ways that we do this is through offering our staff the option to take days of to volunteer with local charities. As part of our recruit, retain and develop initiative we offer mentoring for members of staff to develop their career at the firm. We also offer core skills training outside of legal training, with regular training workshops.
