Specific Issue Orders for Children: Schooling, Holidays Abroad, Medical Treatment, Change of Name and Religion.

Specific Issue Orders for Children are made by the Court when the parents are unable to resolve a specific point, such as choosing a school, what medical treatment a child should receive, decisions over changing a child’s surname, deciding on their religious upbringing or taking a child abroad.

A Prohibited Steps Order prevents a parent from taking a specific course of action in respect of a child without the Court’s permission. This may be necessary, for example, where one parent intends to take a child abroad against the wishes of the other parent or tries to change a child’s school or move a child’s home without agreement.

Our solicitors are able to offer specialist advice on making a applications for a Specific Issue Order or Prohibited Steps Order so as to ensure that your case is prepared properly and the correct procedure is followed to protect the interest of the child(ren).
