‘Legal eagles’ go on the run for Cancer Research UK

STAFF at a Dorset law firm will be going on the run this month (June) in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Seven ‘legal eagles’ from Ellis Jones Solicitors have entered the Bournemouth 5k Race for Life on Sunday June 12.

Six days later a five-strong team from the firm will take part in the 5k ‘Pretty Muddy’ obstacle course at Poole Park on Saturday June 18.

Both events have been organised by Cancer Research UK and are expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the charity.

The Ellis Jones’ team includes Stephanie Wilson, who works in the accounts department at the Charminster office.

She is the law firm’s longest serving participator in the Bournemouth Race for Life events with medals dating back to 2004 when Ellis Jones first entered a team.

Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, said: “We’re very proud that over the years we have raised several thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK from our involvement with Race for Life. This year’s ‘Pretty Muddy’ event will add an extra fun dimension to our charity activities.

“Cancer is a truly dreadful disease which blights the lives of so many people. We’re determined to do our bit as a firm to raise the maximum amount of money to help find a cure.”

Over the past 20 years, more than eight million women have taken part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, raising over £547 million to fund the charity’s life-saving work.

This year Cancer Research UK hopes that Race for Life will raise £50 million.

The Bournemouth Race for Life also includes a 10k event. Both the 5k and 10k races are held along the seafront.
