Ellis Jones sponsors Winton Carnival as it celebrates its tenth anniversary

Winton Carnival celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with organisers predicting it will be its biggest and best-ever event.

Ellis Jones Solicitors is one of the local companies and organisations backing this year’s event.

The carnival hits the streets on Saturday 27th June and thousands are expected to line the route of the procession.

Bournemouth Carnival Band will get the fun underway at 10.30am with the world’s longest serving Town Crier, David Squire, officially starting the grand parade at 10.45am.

Several hundred people on foot or floats are expected to take part in the procession, dancing and walking to a variety of music.

They will follow a route down Wimborne Road, passing through Cardigan and Maxwell Roads, before arriving at Winton Recreation Ground.

Attractions at the ‘Rec’ include a funfair, stalls and live music and dancing on stage throughout the afternoon and evening.

Winton Carnival is a not-for-profit event organised by unpaid, local volunteers who work hard as a team to put on an event that brings the community together for a day of fun and enjoyment.

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “Winton Carnival is one of the area’s best community events, organised by a small but incredibly hardworking team of volunteers.

“We’re only too delighted to play our part in supporting such a popular and successful carnival.”

Michelle Carroll, Chairman of Winton Carnival, predicted this year’s event would be “fun, laughter and smiles”.

She added “As it is the carnival’s tenth anniversary, we have worked hard to gather lots of different parts of the community to make it a really great day.

“It will be even greater if the people of Winton would come and celebrate with us.”
