Olympic cyclist crash highlights the dangers facing cyclists

Olympic cyclist, Ciara Horne was knocked off her bike whilst commuting to work on 27th March 2017. The 27 year old was hit by a car that pulled out from a side road straight in front of her. She had no time to swerve or brake and bounced off the windscreen onto the road. She was rushed by ambulance to hospital and treated for her injuries.

Ciara Horne has said that she has lost confidence on the road and will use the Sport Psychology support to help her get back on her bike.

This accident to one of Great Britain’s cyclists just highlights the dangers faced by cyclists everyday on the road.

David McWilliam specialises in cycle accident claims and has recently had to refer an injured cyclist for psychological treatment and after a successful course of treatment, he has now returned to cycling. Before this treatment, he vowed never to get on a bike again.

We have just been instructed by a London cyclist that was knocked off when a passenger in a stationary car, opened his door in his path. He suffered a fractured collarbone and will be off work for weeks and need extensive rehabilitation to get back to normal.

If you have any queries or have been injured in a cycling accident that was not your fault, telephone David McWilliam at Ellis Jones on 01202 057710 or e-mail him on david.mcwilliam@ellisjones.co.uk
