Areas of Law:
Practice Management/ClientCare/Risk Management/Regulatory Compliance/Business Development/Training/Head of Dispute Resolution Department.
Your Approach:
Having been with the firm for the whole of my professional working life, I am passionate about the business and more importantly about providing service excellence to our clients and it is that approach which governs the way in which I manage the firm.
As a lawyer, I have specialised throughout my career in litigation, dispute resolution and liquor licensing. I have always tried to adopt a “no jargon, no nonsense, keep it simple” approach to the law. I now lead the litigation and dispute resolution team and have endeavoured to bring that approach to the team which has developed an excellent reputation for providing value for money, practical, pragmatic and commercial advice.
Professional Associations & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University of Manchester – LLB (Hons)(1985)
- College of Law Chester – Solicitors’ Final examination (1986)
- Solicitor of the Supreme Court (1988)
- Member of the Law Society
- Member of the Bournemouth & District Law Society
- Member of MASS (Motor Accident Solicitors Society)
Your Route to Ellis Jones:
I joined the firm straight from the College of Law as a trainee (articled clerk back in those days!) back in 1986. I became a Partner in 1992 and the Managing Partner in 1999.
Outside Work:
I live locally and enjoy supporting the community in which I live. I support various local charities and am currently a school governor at the local state junior school.
I am interested in all sport and enjoy playing golf (badly these days!). I have three young sons who frequently put my dispute resolution skills to the test. I am often called upon to mediate between the two eldest on the basis that one supports Chelsea and the other supports Manchester United!
