Slip or trip accidents can happen anywhere. For example, we have dealt with claims where injuries have been sustained on uneven pavements, defects in the road, spillages in supermarkets and broken steps.
All organisations have a duty of care to ensure that premises or places to which the public have access to (including roads and pavements) are in a safe condition for the public to use.
The fact that such an organisation has failed in its duty and you have suffered an injury as a result of this, may entitle you to claim compensation.
What should I do if I have been involved in a slipping/tripping accident?
- 1. If possible, take photographs of the scene of the accident and if possible, take measurements.
- 2. If you have tripped over a defective pavement or road, do not contact the Council about your accident until you have spoken to us.
- 3. Ask for the contact details of any witnesses who saw the incident.
- 4. If the accident happens in a shop or supermarket, make sure you report it to the manager and ensure that an entry is placed in their accident book.
