  • How much will it cost to bring a claim?

The initial consultation is free of charge. It may cost you nothing to bring a claim. Most cases will be funded by way of a Conditional Fee Agreement i.e. No Win, No Fee. If we do not win your personal injury claim, we will not ask you to pay for our work. As long as you comply with the terms of the agreement (which is straightforward) you will not have to pay our charges if the claim is unsuccessful. If you win, we will not charge you any fees because our fees are limited to those that we can recover from the other party. You will therefore receive 100% of your compensation.

Many people have pre-purchased legal expenses insurance attached to their motor or household contents policies. We can check to see if you have legal expenses insurance. Do not contact your insurers until you have spoken to us.

The funding options will be discussed with you at the free initial consultation.

  • How much is my claim for personal injury worth?

There are two elements to any claim as follows:-

    1. General damages – your physical injury.
    2. Special damages – any financial losses related to the accident.

It is impossible to say how much the claim is worth at the outset. Each case is different and injuries affect victims in different ways. The value of the claim will be assessed by reference to the type of injury that you have sustained, the way in which it has affected your life and how it may affect you in the future.

We will obtain expert medical evidence in support of the injuries and once this is available, we will be able to give you a better idea of the potential value of the claim.

  • My insurers have referred me to a panel Solicitor. Do I have to use them?

The simple answer is no. More and more people have legal expenses cover attached to their motor or household contents insurance policies. If you report an accident to your insurers, they will pass you on to one of their panelled firms who will not be local to you. In our experience, the majority of our clients have told us that they prefer to deal with a Solicitor who is local to them so that they can discuss the case face to face with them throughout.

If you are not happy with your current Solicitors, you may wish to transfer your instructions to us which can be done with a minimum of hassle and at no cost to you.

Injured people are free to choose their own Solicitor.

Please contact us to discuss this further.

  • What can I claim for?

In addition to your claim for your injury, you can claim for all losses which have been incurred as a result of the accident. Although the list is by no means exhaustive, below our some examples of items that can be claimed for:-

    • Loss of earnings
    • Medical expenses e.g. prescriptions, operation costs etc
    • Cost of physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment
    • Travel expenses
    • Special equipment e.g. wheelchairs or adapted vehicles
    • Personal care costs
    • Decorating/DIY costs
    • Costs of alterations to your house
  • My accident occurred at work. Can I still make a claim?

All employers are subject to strict rules and regulations regarding their employees. If you have been injured during the course of your employment, then you may be able to bring a claim against them. The employer will have insurance to cover them for such a claim.

Many employees do not pursue a claim against their employers or are concerned about doing so because they fear that it will cause them trouble at work. As an employee, you do have employment rights and the fact that you bring a claim against your employer is not usually a ground upon which your employer can dismiss you.

As well as advising you on the personal injury claim, we can also advise you on any employment issues.
