I'm well at the moment, but I realise I may not always be. Should I be planning ahead?

Yes, it's sensible for anyone over about 60 to give 2 or 3 trusted relatives, friends or professional advisers a Lasting Power of Attorney. You can stipulate that it won't be effective, and so can't be used, until such time, if ever, as you are mentally incapable of managing your own finances. You should also bring your Will up to date and review your investments. We can help with all this.
