Cycling Accident Claims
More and more people are using bicycles as their main form of transport or just for leisure purposes. Riding a bicycle makes you particularly vulnerable to injury from even the most minor of accidents. If you have been injured in a cycling accident that was not your fault, you may be able to claim personal injury compensation.
One of the UK’s fastest growing sports is triathlon. One of the disciplines is cycling. Many hours of training is done by triathletes on their bicycles. The Head of the Personal Injury Department, David McWilliam, is a keen triathlete and recognises the dangers faced on Britain’s roads and other road users when out on his bicycle. If you have been injured in a cycling accident whilst out training or even in a triathlon race, you may be able to claim personal injury compensation. This can include the cost of the damage to your bike.
The Head of the Personal Injury Department, David McWilliam, is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme. He and other members of the team are members of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). The firm was a founder member of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) which promotes access to justice for the victims of road traffic accidents. The firm has now been appointed to the solicitors’ panel of Headway – The Brain Injury Association.
What if the other party does not stop or is uninsured?
It is still possible to claim compensation for injuries sustained even where the other party cannot be traced or is uninsured. Such claims are handled by a Government funded organisation called the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB). The MIB will step into the place of the other driver and will pay you as if the other driver was insured.
Claims through the MIB are very complex and special rules apply. Our specialist team has vast experience in dealing with MIB claims and can lead you through this difficult process. If you are involved in such an accident, you must report it to the police as soon as possible or the MIB will refuse to deal with the claim.
We will help you recover compensation for your injuries and help you recover through our network of rehabilitation providers.
