Law firm enters ten-strong team in Bournemouth Race for Life
A DORSET law firm is urging other companies to follow its lead and enter a team for this year’s Bournemouth Race for Life.
More than 6,000 women are expected to take part in the two 5km events along Bournemouth Seafront on Sunday June 21.
Places are still available for the afternoon race with both events set to raise more than £357,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Ellis Jones Solicitors is entering a ten-strong team with the firm making an additional donation if its runners succeed in collecting all their cash pledges.
Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, said Ellis Jones’ participation had grown every year since first becoming involved in 2002.
“I would urge other companies to enter a team so we can raise the maximum amount of money for this fantastic cause,” he said.
“Our involvement in the 2009 Race for Life is particularly poignant having lost our much-loved colleague, Peter Jones, to cancer earlier this year.”
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life began in 1994 and is now the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK.
To date more than 4m women have taken part raising over £240 million in sponsorship.
Race for Life events take place between May and July. Cancer Research UK is predicting 680,000 women will be walking, jogging or running in more than 230 Race for Life events this year, raising over £62 million to help beat cancer.
