Ellis Jones sponsors TV comedian’s pedal car
TOP television comedian Rory McGrath poses with Nigel Smith, Managing Partner of Ellis Jones Solicitors, just minutes before taking part in an epic pedal car race.
The star of They Think It’s All Over, QI and Grumpy Old Men was at the wheel of a car sponsored by the law firm in this year’s Magna Mazda British Pedal Car Grand Prix at Ringwood.
The ‘Barton Moments’ pedal car came in tenth after successfully completing 57 laps in the two-hour race which was watched by more than 10,000 spectators. The event raised over £13,000 for good causes Tenovus and Oakhaven Hospice Trust. Rory McGrath, and fellow comedian Paddy McGuinness, were filmed during the race for a new four-part series for Channel Five. The programme, which has the working title Rory & Paddy's Road of Sport, sees the pair travelling around the UK in a small camper van taking part in unusual British activities.
Apart from the pedal car race other activities featured in the programme includes wife carrying, bog snorkelling, nettle eating, and cheese rolling. The first programme was aired on Five in August, with this particular episode being broadcast on Wednesday 3rd September.
