Ringwood Carnival Queen begins countdown to 2015 event

New Ringwood Carnival Queen Amy-Louise Hasted has officially fired the starting pistol for this year’s event.

The 16-year-old began a busy few weeks by attending a photocall with key sponsor Ellis Jones Solicitors in the Market Square.

“I’m really looking forward to the carnival and especially the procession. It’s great to be a part of it,” said Amy-Louise.

It’s now three weeks before the biggest event in Ringwood’s annual calendar.

Carnival day is on Saturday September 19 and includes an afternoon parade and an evening procession.

Free events on The Bickerley include a fun fair, trade stands, the ‘Village Green’ with craft, charity and community stalls and a grand firework display evening finale.

Amy-Louise, who was accompanied by princesses Alanna Bingham and Molly Peters, met Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner Nigel Smith.

Also present was Ringwood Carnival President Michael Lingam-Willgoss who thanked Ellis Jones, and other carnival sponsors, for their “fantastic support.”

He added: “Ringwood Carnival is a truly great community event. By supporting us so generously local firms such as Ellis Jones really cement their position at the heart of the community.”

The first Ringwood Carnival was held in 1929 with the event held every year since 1950.

Mr Smith said Ellis Jones was “pleased and proud” to support this year’s event.

“It really sets the standard for carnivals and we’re very proud to play our part in its continuing success,” he said.
